Health Promotion Services
Health promotion services represent the future outlook of hospital services within health systems. Health promotion is defined as the process of empowering individuals to increase control over and improve their health. This important mission is carried out in four domains: patients and their families, hospital staff, the hospital environment, and the community.
Preventive and health promotion clinics, based on the regulations of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion Centers of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, provide clinical preventive services in accordance with national and international guidelines.
At Razavi Hospital, these services are provided free of charge in two sections: Health Education Nursing Clinic and Health Promotion Physician Clinic for patients and their families, other visitors, and hospital staff.
Health Promotion Physician Clinic
Our colleagues in this clinic help empower individuals to increase control over and improve their health by managing physiological risk factors and correcting lifestyle-related factors.
Evidence-based studies show that four diseases—diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases—along with four risk factors including physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, alcohol consumption, and tobacco use, are the leading causes of mortality from non-communicable diseases. The World Health Organization has identified the control of these diseases and their risk factors as a main objective to reduce mortality from non-communicable diseases by 25% by 2025.
Accordingly, the Health Promotion Clinic prioritizes screening, education, and follow-up of these four diseases and their related risk factors.
Furthermore, studies indicate that cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of mortality in most societies, including our country. Diabetes and hypertension play a significant role in their occurrence. While some risk factors such as age and gender are non-modifiable, others can be prevented through proper lifestyle choices in nutrition and physical activity, and if necessary, through medications prescribed by physicians to control blood pressure and blood lipids.
Cardiovascular risk assessment is an effective method for estimating the likelihood of heart and vascular events. Therefore, the ten-year cardiovascular risk assessment program for patients, their families, visitors, and hospital staff is among the top priorities of the Health Promotion Clinic.
Health Education Nursing Clinic
Disease control and management of complications such as hypertension, blood glucose, and blood lipid levels, along with raising awareness about health risk factors including overweight and body mass index, physical inactivity, stress, unhealthy diet, and nicotine dependence (cigarettes, hookah, pipe, etc.), are among the health promotion tools offered by this clinic.
Other services include education on the correct use of medications (such as inhalers and insulin pens) and the provision of health education content based on modern and knowledge-based methods.
